I have no idea if this entry will be seen, but Anil Dash left me a comment on one of my earlier entries about not being able to post comments.
Well, since I can't post comments, Anil, I also cannot respond to your comment in the usual place. :) I do appreciate your taking the time out to respond. As started in my original query, I'm using Firefox v. 2.0,0.11. Obviously I have JavaScript enabled- otherwise I woudn't be able to post this entry, would I?
I fired up Opera and opened a Vox page - the comment boxes there work as advertised. I did not actually log in using Opera because, frankly, I only have it installed for cross-compatibility testing for websites, and I have no desire to use it daily to access Vox.
Again, I appreciate that you've taken time to comment, and I hope you will see this entry.
In fairness, it's only right for me to mention that Six Apart did respond to my feedback about being unable to leave comments.
Their suggestions were unhelpful and clearly geared towards the clueless (i.e. "try clearing your cache and then hard refresh the page (shift+reload)"- and of course none of the suggestions solved my problem- but it's better than having my feedback disappear into cyberspace, never to be heard from again
Testing, because I can't seem to leave comments on other people's posts and wanted to see if I was able to make new posts.
Apparently I am able to post. I just can't leave comments. And Vox provides no tech support other than a knowledge base that does not address my issue, a "known issues" page that likewise doesn't address my issue, and a feedback form that says "We are not currently able to answer every request that comes into the system, but we do very much appreciate your feedback. Thanks!"
W00t! Go Six Apart! You are so totally full of win! </sarcasm> I can confidently say that it's been more than two years since I've had a positive or useful interaction with SA, on any of their platforms/websites, despite the fact that I used to be an enthusiastic user of Movable Type, Vox, TypePad, and LiveJournal. I will be most shocked if this is any different.
I now am an official member of every Six-Apart owned service, other than TypePad...I have my Moveable Type blog, my LiveJournal, a TypeKey account. It's sort of amusing since my interactions with SixApart have been mostly unsatisfactory and I'm not terribly thrilled with the way they're handling LiveJournal these days.
Anyway, I'm here, and nobody can take my username (I get really annoyed when other people use MY username). If all the grown-ups decide to ditch LiveJournal, I might jump on the bandwagon.
I've got about ten other tabs open on Firefox trying to figure out how the heck you add people to your friends list here. I'm off to explore now.
I got my answer with the very first add-on I re-enabled. AdBlock Plus apparently causes this issue. This creates a... read more
